Splatoon 2 Global Testfire: Revenge

My adventures in squid-ing continued today during the 12pm PST session of the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire. As I mentioned yesterday, after trying all four weapons, the Roller and the Dualies became my favorites. So, I began today’s session with the Roller; as a way to start slow and steady.

Splat Roller’s slow start.
And slow it was. I was a lot more at ease this time around; more focused on painting ground and flanking nearby opponents instead of rushing in and getting splatted. The victories were not coming in though.

So, after a few matches, I switched to the Splat Dualies and the story changed a bit. Instead of focusing on meticulously painting the ground, with the Dualies I focused on traversing the map quickly by throwing the Curling Bomb ahead of me and following it in Squid form. This allowed me to more easily sneak up on enemies and attack them. And, the wins started to trickle in. Also, “Ink Jet”, the Dualies super ability, was super handy for escaping bad situations and venturing into enemy paint to gain some ground for the team.

Top player! Please ignore the fact that two opponents probably disconnected or left the match.
Out of the thirteen matches I played, my side won four matches. That does not sound like a great ratio, but it is much better than yesterday. I also managed to be top of my team a couple of times, including during one of the victories!

My love for Splatoon is increasing almost as much as my love for the Curling Bomb. Regardless of what weapon I finally settle on, it looks like the Curling Bomb will be my Secondary Weapon of choice. Cannot wait for the next Testfire session tonight!

I’ll buy Splatoon 2 if I ever get a Switch. Sounds like a lot of fun and I like how it’s not 100% shooting due to the painting floor mechanic. Games that only focus on killing opponents aren’t my strong point, which is why I main Mercy in Overwatch.

I feel the same way. I enjoy the “thrills” and competitive nature of shooters but only tend to gravitate towards ones with strong emphasis on teamwork and alternate objectives besides “killing the other guys”. It is why I really enjoyed some of the older Battlefield games and Destiny (the PVE parts more so).

I highly recommend Splatoon 2. I have had an unusually hard time putting the controller down since it launched on Friday.
